Now this is a bit of a long post and will take sometime to figure out, I do not promise you this will fix your issue but you will be one step closer to finding out what the issue is. In most cases these methods have solved the users errors. But for this the characters of the bx code are irrelevant.
One of the first things I noticed is most the users that are seeing this issue is they are using Internet Explorer. I have suggested that the users download Mozilla Firefox. Firefox (FF) has been the leading browser for the past few years with Google Chrome (GC) or Internet Explorer (IE) following. Although as of 2010 Opera has rose up through the ranks for the #1 browser as far as speed. However FF is still a better browser overall.
If downloading FF did not fix your issue then no harm done. Trust me, you did yourself a favor by downloading FF. But we can mark off browser issue as being part of the problem.
For this next step you will need to create a new blog, not blog post but a new blog entirely. And do not use a blog you already had as a test blog because the gadgets your using on that blog may alter the outcome of this. In this blog you will use a different template then you have in your other blog that has the problem. Make sure to use a Blogger template and not a 3rd party template. After you have created this blog, go to your template designer. Rather the error is or is not displaying will determine which section you should read next.
The Error is Still Displaying:
Yes I know your probably upset because you did all this and your problem is not fixed. However it would seem that your issue is just a normally Bx code Issue. And you should be able to find additional help on that link. You do not need to continue any farther in this post. The Error is Not Displaying:
Congratulations, your issues looks like it can be solved through this post. So with this new found info we can narrow your issue down to 3 different problems that probably can be solved. So now we need to check and see if this is do to your template or content.
- To do this you need to Download Your Template that you are receiving the error code on.
- Upload this template to your new blog.
- Check to see if the issue shows up when you access your new blogs template designer. (If the issue does not show up then you can skip down to Part 2.)
Part 1:
Provided you created a new blog as I said above and did not used a previous test blog. Your problem lies in your template coding syntax. This could be caused by tweaks you have made in your template or 3rd party scripts added. If you are using a 3rd party template then you simply need to change template or contact the site you got the template from with the issue. Google simply did not design the template designer to fit the standers of 3rd party templates. The 3rd party designers need to design the templates to fit Google's standers. If you are not using a 3rd party template, then you have 2 choices.
- You can go the easy route and install a fresh copy of the template you are using to your blog. (This will removing all your tweaks or add on in your Edit HTML page.)
- The other option is to start removing the tweaks and scripts you have added one at a time. (When you remove one paste the code for it in a notepad.)
- Then check to see if the template designer is now working.
- If not then you can now add the code in the notepad back from where you got it.
- Continue this until you have located the problem.
- If you have removed everything and you still cant find the problem, then the only option is to install a fresh copy of your template.
Part 2:
This part is for those who have not received the error when uploading their template to the new blog. This means it is a content issue.- One problem that has been known to cases issues is having To Many Post Displaying On Your Homepage.
- Go to Settings-->Formatting from your dashboard
- Set post to display on main page to 0
- Now check to see if the template designer is working. (If not then you can move on to part 2-1 below.)
- If it is working you can then try increasing the number until you see the error again. (Find a number that is working.)
Part 2-1:
Still not working then the problem has to be coming from one of your gadgets. In this next step I do not recommend removing Archive, BlogRoll, or LinkList gadgets.- Start by copying the content of one of your gadgets and paste it in a notepad. (If Text gadget then copy in HTML mode. If Image or SideShow then copy then direct image location. If HTML/javascript just copy its code content)
- Now removing the gadget you just copied (Do this one gadget at a time)
- Check to see if the template designer is working now.
- If not working replace the gadget with the copy content in your notepad.
- Repeat steps 1-4 until you have isolated this problematic gadget.
AweSome Post, I been working on mine for months and can not seem to get the Right Look
