Firebug is a advanced tool that can be used to locate ID and Class elements from within your blog. The options on it can be a little complicated to use but learning how to use it is time well spent. The program will help solve many issue on your site with just a few clicks. Most help forum members use this program to solve the countless questions in the forums.
Firebug will allow you to temporarily edit coding and styles without risking the chance of messing up your template. It acts as the Template Designer within Blogger by producing a live view of your changes without ever actually changing a thing in the template it self. This is great of testing out ideas and fixing bugs or errors in your coding. For Blogger Help Forum members this allows us to test out the code we give you on your blog to make sure it works first. Personally I don't know where I would be without it!
Here is just a demonstration of me changing the layouts of Google's homepage. No photoshop here everything you see was added through Firebug.... Hope Google does not get mad at me for doing this!
Below you can see the Firebug interface open as I am changing the button text.
